Trying my hand at crochet lace. So I've done some filet crochet work relatively recently, and I made the Hayden-Harnett collar (which was very fun to make) over the summer; but I was really excited to do some lace work. I did a little reading, and found out that lace crochet uses some very manageable stitches with very fine thread and a relatively small needle. I sat down with a pattern book, and crocheting on-and-off, after two days, I finally ended up with this...

I was pleasantly surprised with how relatively simple the process was, and with how striking the doily looked in red, rather than in traditional white. I refuse to starch it- I like its imperfect appearance. My plan is to frame it.

Very cute, it looks great in red! What size hook did you have to use?

Cool! I'm not usually into doilies, but you're right, the red makes it striking.

The needle used was a 2.00 mm.
Thanks for the nice words!
